Allstate among top U.S. corporate citizens

Leading corporate responsibility magazine praises leaders in philanthropy, other factors

Allstate Insurance Company has been recognized as one of North America’s “100 Best Corporate Citizens,” according to a 2009 ranking published today by Corporate Responsibility Officer (CRO) Magazine.

Independent researchers evaluated 1,000 companies on their performance on seven key criteria, including environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial performance and corporate governance. This is the first year Allstate has achieved the top 100 ranking.

Today, the need for companies to step forward and lead positive social change is greater than ever. It’s the right thing to do.”

Allstate has long focused on creating innovative solutions for challenging societal issues. Empowering Victims of Domestic Violence and Safe Teen Driving have been priority initiatives for The Allstate Foundation since 2005. The Foundation also partners with several non-profit organizations on grassroots community initiatives that promote safe and vital communities, economic empowerment, and tolerance, inclusion and diversity. In addition, Allstate actively supports volunteerism among its 14,700 agents and 36,000+ employees. Among other programs, Allstate’s more than 135 employee-led Helping Hands® Committees across the country have coordinated thousands of volunteer efforts since 1976.
